Hi, I’m Claire
I’m a the founder of Mission Nutrition and findWellness, a professional wellbeing speaker, 1 News columnist, educator and have had three best selling books published.
I completed my BSc (Hons) in Dietetics in 2004 and also trained as a fitness instructor. I now work as a NZ Registered Nutritionist and have a diploma in Positive Psychology.
Outside of my work life, you’ll find me running around after my two young boys, leading our local scout group and being creative in the kitchen (often making a mess!)
I keep up to do date with the latest research and love listening to podcasts on nutrition, psychology, neuroscience, fitness, sleep, neurodiversity and menopause.
I am happiest adventuring outdoors, be it bush walking, biking, hiking, kayaking, camping or hitting the slopes. Nothing feels better than being in nature.
My story
My mission is to make it easier for people to live healthier, happier lives. I’m here to inspire and support others to eat well, sleep better, move more, and manage their minds - so they can improve their physical, emotional and mental wellbeing in ways that feel achievable and real.
While I hold professional qualifications in nutrition and positive psychology, much of what I share also comes from lived experiences. I’ve walked a path through disordered eating, dyslexia, depression, anxiety, post-natal psychosis, a brain injury, the heartbreaking loss of friends to suicide, and now the ongoing journey of parenting a neurodiverse child.
I grew up in a family of health professionals in the UK - my dad a doctor, my mum a nurse, and one of my brothers is both a pharmacist and anaesthetist. I started working in hospitals and nursing homes at age 15 and have been in the world of health ever since. Wellbeing is truly in my blood.
I moved to New Zealand in 2005 to work with Diabetes New Zealand and Healthy Food Guide magazine, before founding Mission Nutrition and later findWellness - two businesses that support individuals and workplaces with practical, science-backed wellbeing tools.
Over the years, I’ve also worked for the Millennium Institute of Sport and been the lead Dietitian for professional rugby teams.
Today, alongside speaking, media work and writing books, I also support My Everyday Wellbeing, helping shape strategy for their workplace wellness programme and creating content and events that engage and uplift.
