Why your GP won't give you nutrition advice

A really interesting chat with Tim Beveridge on NewstalkZB’s Health Hub about the confusion people are experiencing in the world of ‘healthy eating’, and the role your GP plays in this.

As I said to Tim, “everyone has an opinion, and opinions vary”, so it’s no wonder people are feeling confused, misinformed, or simply not getting the support they are looking for.

I come from a family of doctors, so I’m certainly not discrediting them! However, it’s important to understand that depending on the type of doctor, they may not necessarily have nutrition training. Add to this, food packaging with misleading health claims, supplements promising quick fixes, and conflicting information online, and it’s easy to see why people feel unsure about what to trust.
