Create a healthier relationship with food and yourself
Thanks for having me TVNZ Seven Sharp! My top tips from the episode on Wednesday 30th July 2025:
1. Tune into why you eat when you do. Many of the reasons we eat have nothing to do with being hungry or really wanting food. It is really common to eat out of habit or just because the food is there, or to manage difficult emotions.
2. Honour your hunger and fullness, we were brought up to finish everything on our plates and we need to recondition that thinking.
3. Your environment matters - make it easier to access the foods and drinks you want to have more of and harder to reach the ones you want to have less of. As simple as it sounds, it really works!
4. How you talk to yourself is important to - our self-talk, the inner dialog we have with ourselves is often negative and critical and fuels an unhelpful relationship with food.
5. Awareness can lead to powerful change when it comes to your wellbeing and behaviour.
